Two suspects who were arrested in connection to the case of two Soweto boys who were mutilated will go on trial at the end of May 2024.
Nqobile Ndlovu (50) grandmother of one of the boys, and Mthunzi Musawenkosi Zulu (39) were charged with two counts of murder, kidnapping, perjury and defeating the ends of justice.
In April 2023, the mutilated bodies of Mduduzi Nqobizitha Zulu (5), and Tshiamo Rabanye (6) were found in White City and Rockville, Soweto after going missing on Wednesday, 19 April.
One of the boy’s body parts were found in White City while the other’s was found in Rockville.
The boys were reported missing after disappearing from the front of their homes where they were playing.
A search for the boys was unsuccessful, and the gruesome discovery of their mangled body parts were made a few days later.
The community of White City and Rockville were left reeling after the grandmother of Tshiamo Rabanye and her boyfriend were arrested.
Ndlovu was Tshiamo’s legal guardian as he was an orphan.
Not only did Ndlovu report Tshiamo missing, but she also joined the search for the boys through the night.
Initially the pair awaiting trial opted to represent themselves in court, but have since acquired individual legal representatives due to the gravity of the charges against them.
