Phat Joe claims “goons” came into his R40 000 rented Cape Town apartment to try to assault him, which ended in his wife being assaulted in the process.
Speaking to Mac G on Podcast and Chill, the radio and TV personality explained the situation involving his falsely reported eviction.
“I’ve been in this place for 4+ years, it got to a point where we planning to move out, but this person or people they work with decided that they were going to try to defraud us of about R300 000.
I said no way. So we started talking through lawyers, they filed court paperwork then things started to get ugly and violent.
They tried to switch off our electricity there, they broke in to break the geyser, they sent goons to do that.
They came to try and assault me, they ended up assaulting my wife. I have the video I could play it for you.
Then they sent gunmen after me, and my wife. The pictures that you guys saw in the paper, you must remember, that when the story first broke, there was a picture of my 4-year old daughter.
This woman, they sent somebody to my house, the day that they sent the Sheriff and the lady came into my house, impersonated an attorney and took pictures and then sent it to the press.
So, I’ve been dealing with that, it’s a personal matter and I’ve tried to deal with it privately and we currently have about 5 court cases. There’s 2 or 3 civil cases, and 2 criminal cases.
I managed to get a protection order against them two weeks ago, so this is very deep.”

At the end of April, News24 reported that Phat Joe and his family were “booted from (their) luxurious Cape Town apartment, allegedly over unpaid rent.”
The story was then picked up by several other publications including IOL and Bona Magazine, with reports suggesting that the media personality was evicted because he was owing over R600 000 in rent.
In an official statement, Phat Joe has responded to the false reports of his eviction, calling the news an attempt to defame him.
