A woman has been killed and 4 others injured in a mass shooting incident that took place in Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
KZN police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who was reportedly an occupant of the house on Adelaide Tambo Road, where the shooting occured.
It is alleged the male suspect of Asian descent fired shots at four women, also of Asian origin as they were getting into the vehicle of another Asian male.
The women were reportedly offered a lift to a shopping mall by the second male who arrived at the house to find the 4 of them sitting in a room of the rented home.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said three of the women are in a critical condition in hospital, while one was declared dead on scene.
“One woman sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene, whereas the other women were rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The male companion escaped unharmed. Investigations are underway to establish the motive of the shooting as well as the relations between the suspect and the victims.
The three other victims, all in critical condition received urgent care and were stabilised before being transported to a medical facility for further treatment.
The cause of the shooting remains under investigation, but early indications suggest a domestic dispute may have been the cause.”
