As a parent what did you forget to teach your children?
Many parents focus heavily on teaching their children how to do their homework, clean their rooms, and behave responsibly.
While these are vital lessons, parents also frequently overlook teaching their kids other lessons.
Things like the negative effects of shoplifting, the significance of asking for consent, appropriate adult speech, and emotional regulation, along with how not every child gets a Trophy, how to behave, and how to be curious – without Google.
Andy shared a story about how her little sister almost got them arrested for a simple preventable lesson she was supposed to have been taught by her parents.
“Did I ever tell you of the time that my sister once almost got us arrested? Slightly dramatic but however it could have gone there. So we are shopping, with my little sister, and my mom was there as well we go to a particular store, and I knew I have gone there for one thing one only, which was teabags. So, I did not take a trolley or anything else because I did not want to be tempted. My sister as as a cute 11-year-old asks, ‘Can I please carry the teabags for you?’. One thing I must tell you, as a family we have a browsing gene, and we like walking around to see what else is on offer. When we went to the till to pay, I looked at my little sister and saw nothing in her hands. I asked her ‘Where are the teabags?’ She then reaches into her pockets for the teabags. I have never wanted to shake someone like that in my entire life.”
