Penny Ntuli has secured a new radio gig after leaving Gagasi FM a week ago.
The radio personality shared her decision to part ways with the KwaZulu-Natal based radio station on 25 March owing to her salary offer being too low.
Ntuli who initially accepted the renewal offer from Gagasi FM, said she reconsidered her decision owing to her salary not changing much over the 2-years.
She claimed she was only receiving R2 800 for a graveyard show she was hosting once a week, which was not sufficient to sustain her life.
Ntuli was expected to host a 4-hour show on Sundays.
“Kindly receive this email/letter as my formal notice and request that my offer letter for the 2024 season as an on air personality at Gagasi FM not be renewed.
It’s been an amazing 2-years there. I am grateful to be considered as one of the talents that’s been given an opportunity to showcase their talents once again in the new season on your platform.
However, the salary of R2 800 p/m on my offer letter/contract is not something I can sustain my life with.”
Ntuli shared that during the negotiations she was told to consider other opportunities outside of her radio slot to earn more money, which “killed her confidence heavily.”
Within days, Penny Ntuli landed a new radio show on Jozi FM where she will be on-air Monday to Friday from 09h00 to 12h00.
Since speaking out about her salary on radio, other radio personalities also came out to talk about the huge pay discrepancies in the industry.
Meanwhile, Gagasi FM is said to be consulting it’s legal team after Ntuli revealed her salary on social media.
