Liesl Laurie has had enough of people leaving comments on her posts, congratulating her on her “pregnancy”, which the former Miss SA has once again denied.
The wife of Dr Musa Mthombeni has previously sent a firm message out to people who continue to comment that she’s pregnant and asked for everyone to “leave my womb and every woman’s womb alone!”
It doesn’t sound like Liesl’s message landed, however, as she is still being inundated with comments on social media from people saying she looks pregnant.
The 33-year-old says that some take it so far as to leave comments that she’s gained weight and make it a point to bring it to her attention, which is something that as a woman is so difficult to manage.
Her message might seem like she’s trying to cover up her pregnancy to some, but Liesl has pointed out an important reminder which is that some women and couples struggle to conceive, and it’s therefore inappropriate to make these comments about a woman’s womb.
“I can’t believe I have to sit in my car and do this, and educate people, but leave my womb alone, leave other women’s wombs alone.
If you are a man and you don’t have your own womb, find out from science or any other research places if you are able to grow your own and create your own baby so you can watch your baby grow in your stomach and leave other women’s wombs alone.
If you are a woman who keeps commenting rubbish on my posts, ‘she’s pregnant, she’s this, she’s that,’ whether I am or not and just for the record, I’m not, I just feel like you guys want to be seen and this culture that you want to be the first to out someone, you guys need to stop it.
When women are ready to tell you whether or not they are pregnant they will tell you.”
Liesl Laurie addresses more comments over whether she’s pregnant or not
Liesl says she’s tired of people who are constantly sending messages of congratulations, or asking if she’s pregnant because she’s put on weight, and says that the reason she’s put on weight is because she’s happy and has money.
Addressing a user who claims to be a doctor, Liesl stressed how harmful it is to constantly have her womb scrutinized and her weight gain picked on.
“If I have gained weight which I know I have, that’s fine, I’ve gained weight because I’m happy and I have money.
But what you’re not going to do is mess around with my womb or my autonomy or anything that is difficult enough as it is.”
