It’s a leap year and Liesl Laurie is reminding women that this is the year to reverse roles and make the move on their partner for a change.
The former Miss South Africa shared how she planned a romantic dinner for two, in order to ‘pop the question’ and ask her doctor husband of nearly 3-years to be her Valentine.
Liesl booked an intimate dinner at the Radisson Red in Rosebank, wining and dining Musa and promising him things she jokes she has no intentions of keeping.
“So, last night I asked my beautiful and gorgeous husband of almost 3-years, Musawenkosi Mthokozisi Mthombeni aka Big Daddy, aka The Vaal’s sexiest man, aka Two-Piece-Daddy etc to be my Valenting.
I made a whole hurrah and booked a romantic dinner for 2.
He tried to play hard to get and gave me the run around but after promising to buy him 4 brand new tyres and a new V8 egine he jumped into my arms and screamed ‘aaaahhh yeeeeebooooo…’
Ladies, is you want to show your man you love him, do the right thing and book your own table for two on Valentine’s Day and sell him dreams.
This post was not writtent by Musa. Any coincidence or tonal similarities are purely because we’ve been married for so long.”
Liesl has sent a reminder to women that romance in a relationship or marriage doesn’t have to be reserved for just men to carry out.
The tradition of women making the move and asking a man out, or proposing is an Irish one which first started hundreds of years ago.
According to legend, it’s an arrangement that supposedly stemmed from a deal Saint Bridget struck with Saint Patrick.
Traditionally, if a man refused the advances of a woman, he had to buy her a silk gown or fur coat.
Maybe Liesl should have been the one playing hard to get?
