South African Rugby’s Director of Rugby, Rassie Erasmus, is recovering in the hospital following a medical procedure for chemical burns sustained in a freak accident using a powerful detergent product.
According to SA Rugby, Rassie is “otherwise in good health and expects to return to full-time working within weeks.”

Rassie Erasmus, a renowned figure in the world of rugby, has an impressive track record as both a player and coach. Hailing from the Freestate, Erasmus served as the coach of the South African national team from 2018 until the conclusion of their triumphant 2019 World Cup campaign. Not only that, but he also took on the role of SARU Director of Rugby, making history as the first person to hold this position.
