Woman arrested for residential building fire in Joburg CBD.
The fatal fire that destroyed a building on Commissioner Street in the Johannesburg CBD on Sunday, killing two people, is allegedly a result of a domestic argument.
Joburg’s City Manager Floyd Brink and Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda evaluated the structure on Monday. They confirmed that the woman will be charged with murder while she is incarcerated.
According to Brink, the city’s forensic team was on the scene carrying out independent investigations while police investigations progressed. He also said that the fire was discovered by the city’s monitoring systems; no call reporting the fire was received, and firefighters arrived on the scene 10 minutes after it started.
