“He single-handedly disrupted and completely collapsed our football” – Malema wants Danny Jordaan axed.
Bafana Bafana had a rocky start at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2024) when they faced Mali and many soccer fans are unhappy about their performance.
Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has called for Danny Jordaan, the president of the South African Football Association (SAFA), to be removed from office and launched a scathing attack on him.
Malema attributed the state of South African football to Jordaan, calling him a “deployed cadre” of the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
He took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter to voice his opinions and said “It’s time to take action”.
“We must demand the removal of the @MYANC deployed cadre called Danny Jordan. He single handedly disrupted and completely collapsed our football. It’s time to take action and put an end to this nonsense.😠”

Percy Tau’s form was also questioned by the EFF Leader who missed a penalty as Bafana Bafana fell 2-0 to Mali in the 2023 Afcon on Tuesday at the Stade A.G Coulibaly in Korhogo, Ivory Coast.
Malema’s post suggested that we are calling a katse (a Cat) a Tau (a Lion), following Percy Tau’s the missed penalty.

Samuel Eto’o expresses disappointment with SAFA’s role in supporting Bafana Bafana
Former Cameroon player Samuel Eto’o, who visited South Africa and voiced his dissatisfaction with the country’s football development, has also questioned Jordaan’s leadership of SAFA.
According to Eto’o, South Africa lacked the infrastructure and the vision necessary to become a dominant force in African football.
“Football officials need to sit down and plan how to take Bafana to another level and make it the best national team in Africa. Given the strength of the national league, that is possible,”
Samuel Eto’o
The team’s loss sees Mali rise to the top of Group E, while Bafana falls to the bottom. On Sunday, South Africa will play Namibia, which is ranked second. The game starts at 22:00.
