Gospel singer Kelly Khumalo turned 39-years old on Saturday, 11 November and as a birthday treat to her fans has dropped a new track, Emaweni.
Kelly who has previously posted that she moves by faith, not sight describes the track as a romantic ballad.
The song has already received positive responses from die-hard Kelly Khumalo fans, with one saying the latest hit from the mother of 3, is going to be her wedding song.
Emaweni, translated from isiZulu means “on the cliffs”, and the cover artwork includes a transparent image of the singer with cliffs in the background.
Some are wondering whether the cliffs are symbolic of Kelly’s career dangling from a cliff’s ledge this year, after the singer lost gigs due to alleged implications with the death of her daughter’s father, Senzo Meyiwa.
Kelly was alleged to have been in contact with one of the men accused of killing the former South African football legend just days before he was gunned down at her family’s home in Vosloorus.
While Kelly has declined to comment on these allegations, the Empini hitmaker is determined to not allow negative press to deter her, and has maintained her silence since Meyiwa’s death on 26 October 2014.
Just days before releasing Emaweni, Kelly’s hit song, Empini reached 20 million views on YouTube.
