Eskom has handed over load-shedding operations to City Power.
Eskom and City Power have announced that as of the 6th of November, Eskom is to hand over load-shedding operations to City Power.
The action is in accordance with a mutual agreement between the two power companies, according to a joint statement from both, wherein City Power would assume responsibility for load-shedding operations for the majority of its supply areas that were previously load-shed by Eskom.

Over 260 substations in the Johannesburg region are under the jurisdiction of City Power.
The load-shedding blocks will alter as a result of this project, affecting the schedule in regions serviced by Eskom and City Power in Gauteng and Johannesburg, respectively.
“The two entities will keep exploring technical solutions that will enable City Power to take over the loadshedding operations of its remaining customers.”
“City Power has its processes, systems, and technical capacity in place to take over the added loadshedding operations as part of the new schedule.”
“The revised blocks and schedules will be available for the City Power and Eskom customers on 6 November 2023 on their websites,” read the statement
