DA calls for Eskom CEO to not go ahead with multi-million rand tender for new logo.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is requesting that Calib Cassim, the interim CEO of Eskom, immediately cancel the multi-million rand competition for a new corporate logo.
According to Daily Investor, the power company put out a call for bids, requesting vendors to help with the creation of a new corporate identity and logo.
The design of a wide range of digital and printed assets, marketing collateral, and online assets are all part of this massive multi-million dollar tender.

According to the Eskom procurement document, the company requires a new corporate brand to reflect its new organizational structure, which consists of three separate subsidiaries: distribution, transmission, and generation.
Given Eskom’s enormous debt, DA MP and Shadow Minister of Public Enterprises Ghaleb Cachalia claims this would be unnecessary spending.
“This is a completely unnecessary vanity project that contributes nothing towards solving South Africa’s load-shedding crisis,” he said.
“With Eskom warning that load-shedding can be introduced on short notice, it is astounding that their priority is a logo change,” he said.
“Instead of looking to increase generation capacity and do away with load-shedding permanently, Eskom thinks it is necessary to focus on sprucing up their image,” said DA MP and Shadow Minister of Public Enterprises Ghaleb Cachalia
