959 Breakfast’s Sol Phenduka recently released his latest single, Lonely Nights featuring Anga Diago, KSoulRSA, acnd NVRTH.
Sol’s friend introduced him to NVRTH and KSoulRSA, who were creating a sound that he really enjoys and often produces himself. They also brought in Anga, a talented vocalist, to collaborate on the track.
During the creation of Lonely Nights, Anga was going through a difficult breakup, and the song became a way for her to express her pain and heartache.
“The song speaks about someone who is not around for the relationship. You know when they say someone is for the streets? That’s what the song highlights,” Sol explained.
He personally relates to the message of Lonely Nights because, as a DJ, he “spends a lot of time away from home.” The song captures the feeling of being on a road trip, which resonates with his own experiences.
When choosing the sound for the track, Sol intentionally aimed for international appeal. “I went with an international sound. You’ll find that when you travel, a lot of the time people love Amapiano but don’t understand the lyrics. It is just trying to cater to that and add a different sound to the landscape,” he explained.
Before releasing his highly anticipated album, Sol wants to establish a strong connection with his audience. He wants to build a following that “truly understands and appreciates his sound.” He plans to release four more singles before dropping an EP.
