Hundreds more Palestinian civilians including children were killed in Gaza overnight as Israeli airstrikes continue to target densely populated residential areas in Gaza.
The death toll in Gaza has passed the 5,000 mark, as reported by the United Nations, with no ceasefire in sight.
Over the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes have bombed 10 homes as children between 2 and 10-years slept inside.
According to DW News, an estimated 1.4 million Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza. This accounts for about 60% of the population who are now living in camps with no basic necessities.
A scarcity of fuel, water, medicine, and food intensified, although the border gates were open over the weekend to allow aid from Egypt and other parts of the world to trickle into Gaza. The supplies transported across the border were not enough for the almost 2.2 million civilian population.
With the electricity grid switched off, fuel is urgently needed to run hospitals that are heavily reliant on generators to operate.
Fuel is also used to generate water in Gaza, and is used in the desalination plants.
However, negotiations over 50 hostages held by Hamas fell flat over the militant group’s request for fuel.
The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) says Hamas stole fuel and equipment from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), enough to power Gaza’s desalination facilities for 6-days.

Without fuel, the UN says over 120 newborn babies in the neonatal ICU at the Indonesian Hospital are at risk, as the hospital will not be able to power generators needed for incubators.
Meanwhile, Israel has maintained that it will not stop the bombardment of Gaza until Hamas is extinguished, and the IDF has ordered civilians to move south.
A controversial order, as areas in the south of Gaza are also being targeted by Israeli airstrikes.
The IDF will be moving ahead with its ground incursion into Gaza, with additional support from the USA.
A ground invasion could last between 1 to 3 months or longer, and by then the loss of civilian lives will likely reach new devastating numbers.
Ireland and Spain held mass protests in solidarity towards Palestine, calling for Israel to stop its siege on Palestine, and highlighted the humanitarian crisis over basic needs not being met.
