President Cyril Ramaphosa is calling for the immediate and unconditional opening of humanitarian corridors in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
This after the Palestinian Health Ministry, Palestine Red Crescent Society and the Israeli Medical Services reported the latest death toll from hostile clashes rose to over 1 000 in both Gaza and Israel.
At least 1 200 people were reportedly killed in Gaza and 5 600 were injured, while 1 300 casualties were reported in Israel where a further 3 300 people were injured.

Ramaphosa extended his condolences to the victims of the Israel-Palestine conflict, and called for the international community to accelerate their support towards lasting and durable peace between both states.
“Our thoughts are with all the victims families and loved ones during this perilous period of fighting. We remain gravely concerned at the devastating escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the atrocities committed against civilian populations.
We call for the immediate cessation of violence and the exercise of restraint. It is vital that all those who require urgent humanitarian assistance are provided with the basic life supporting necessities and that human suffering is ameliorated.”
President Ramaphosa said South Africa is ready to work with the international community to share experience in mediation and conflict resolution.
