Zandie Khumalo-Gumede has squashed a rumoured R22 million deal with her sister Kelly Khumalo and Netflix for a docu-series on Senzo Meyiwa’s murder.
The singer took to her social media on Sunday, 08 October after a social media post claimed the sisters would finally be breaking their silence in a multi-million deal over “events that took place in the house the day Senzo was killed.”
Zandie and Kelly have over the years endured intense public scrutiny over the footballer’s death, with speculation that they were involved in a cover-up over who really killed him.
Kelly who was dating Senzo at the time, was implicated by a cellphone analyst at having contact with one of the men accused of gunning down the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star, days before he was shot.
Senzo was killed in the Khumalos’ family home in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014, in what the State is calling a “botched home invasion.”
While Zandie did take to the witness stand in Senzo’s murder trial, Kelly has not broken her silence to date.
When the social media post shared by Joy Zelda was shared on Sunday, Zandie, Kelly and Netflix were slammed by South Africans who felt the sisters were trying to monetize Senzo’s death.
However, Zandie quickly poured cold water on those flames by slamming the social media post as fake news.
The singer who has a new single out on 13 October, said she’s not going to allow such untrue narrative to derail her focus.
“Its always funny when I find out things about myself that I didn’t even know about myself.
Anyway dont let them defocus you, bafuna silahlekelwe ifocus, like me just keep your eye on the prize and the only thing we are focusing on right now is the release of my new single Emagameni Amathathu on Friday the 13th of October.”
