AKA to receive a Global Visionary Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
The late Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes has been honored with the worldwide Visionary Award at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, recognizing his enormous impact on the worldwide Hip-Hop landscape.
AKA has also been nominated for the Best International Flow at this year’s awards.
AKA’s family, Lynn, and Tony Forbes, accepted the prize on his behalf via a pre-recorded special during the show’s worldwide airings.
“This is a bittersweet moment for us as a family. Kiernan lived for music and gave his all to creating a legacy that has outlived him. Thank you, BET for bestowing such a rightful honor to Kiernan. He would have accepted this award with pride. We are humbled to receive and acknowledge this honor on his behalf, especially for Kairo, who gets to witness her father’s legacy live on.”
The awards will be broadcast on Tuesday, October 10 2023, at 9PM ET/PT on BET Africa.
AKA dominates the SAMA Awards
Kiernan ‘AKA‘ Forbes is leading the pack with six nominations, with fellow rapper K.O. being the second most nominated artist, with five nominations.
Mass Country his fourth studio album was released posthumously by Sony and Vth A on 24 February 2023.
His album has been nominated in the following categories (Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Engineered Album, Best Collaboration (Lemons (Lemonade) ft Nasty C & Company ft. Kiddominant).
