Eskom suspends load-shedding for the long weekend.
Eskom stated that load shedding will be discontinued starting at 5:00 on Saturday, and outages won’t start up again until Tuesday (September 26), due to the persistent improvement in generating availability and the anticipated decrease in demand over the holiday weekend.
Stage 2 load shedding will continue to take place on Friday from 16:00 to 05:00. Stage 1 will begin on Tuesday at 05:00.
“During the long weekend, Eskom will address minor defects on some generating units by performing planned maintenance. Eskom will closely monitor the power system and communicate any changes to load shedding should it be required,” it said.
