With only two days of the current transfer window remaining, Kaizer Chiefs have agreed terms to sign Sibongiseni Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC.
The Bafana Bafana international signed a three-year deal with the Naturena-based outfit that runs until June 2026.
Before joining Stellenbosch, Mthethwa played for the Royal Eagles and Black Leopards. He featured 29 times for Stellenbosch last season and made his debut for Bafana Bafana in September 2022.
Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. expressed excitement over the signing of the 29-year-old and hopes he will help the team turn their season around.
“We warmly welcome Sibongiseni Mthethwa to the team. We know he’s a good player with great experience under his belt. We believe that he will hit the ground running and contribute straight away, knowing fully well what is expected of every player who dons the gold and black jersey of Amakhosi. We look forward to many great performances in the coming seasons.”
Motaung Jr. commended Stellenbosch for their professionalism during the negotiations and looks forward to the “continuation of their working well together.”
Mthethwa will move to Joburg and officially join his teammates at training on Monday, September 25.
