The decision was made in response to a number of instances of organized violence and property damage on Wednesday in the city.
“A Tshwane bakkie, water tanker, three trucks from Water and Sanitation and an A Re Yeng bus were damaged in various violent attacks in the Pretoria CBD. Therefore, in the interest of the safety of both our communities and employees, we took the decision to suspend operations.
“Furthermore, it is important that we protect city infrastructure from these criminal acts. It is now clear that the city is no longer dealing with an illegal strike action, we are now dealing with a well-coordinated criminal attack on our infrastructure,” said The City of Tshwane.
We regrettably have to inform our @Tshwanebus2 and @A_RE_YENG commuters that we have withdrawn the buses due to intimidation and violent attacks. This is for the safety of our passengers and protecting of our assets. We profusely apologise for the inconvenience caused🙏🏽 .
