WATCH: Malema calls out Magistrate for being late every time for the last 5 years.
On Wednesday, an irate EFF Leader Julius Malema didn’t mince his words when he lost his composure in court and criticized the magistrate overseeing his firearm discharge case for allegedly being late.
He had a lengthy monologue about how “she’s not above the law” and how “she has a duty to respect us [Malema and Adriaan Snyman]”.
Malema and Adriaan Snyman, his bodyguard, went back to the dock at the East London Magistrate’s Court and had to wait for a lengthy period before court proceedings could commence.
Snyman is charged with two offenses under the Firearms Controls Act, while the EFF leader is charged with five offenses, including reckless endangerment to person or property and unauthorized possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Speaking in court Maleme said he couldn’t keep quiet anymore as this had been happening for over 5 years now.
“Five years we’ve been here, she has never been on time. No journalist has written about that, about her ill-discipline or coming late to court. This is absolute rubbish we must never stand for. If it means prison then let it be prison, but no one must disrespect us like that. ”
“No magistrate, no prosecutor must disrespect us and we keep quiet,”
“She has never been early to any court. She says come at 12, we come at 12, she’s never here. We must not talk because we are scared to go to jail? It can’t be. We are being disrespected. We have rights and our rights have to be respected.” said Malema,
