Makhadzi has released “Mbofholowo”, her first album as an independent artist.
South Africa has been following her incredible journey since she released her smash hit “Haka Matorokisi”, the then chart-topping song of the year.
After experiencing record label problems, Makhadzi has been able to stay afloat and is now enjoying the fruits of her labor in the form of a new album, an album she has expressed is “music of freedom”.
Her label woes were apparent when she made the announcement about leaving her record company Open Mic in May in an Instagram post that read: “The relationship between myself and Open Mic Productions was like a match made in heaven as it elevated both of us to become top household names in the South African music industry. Our relationship produced four studio albums and all the albums did very well.”
She is ready for a great summer with her new album offering “Mbofholowo” which was released on Friday, 1st September.
