Jub Jub’s rape, attempted murder and assault case has been postponed to November, after the rapper and TV presenter made a brief appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 24 August.
The Uyajola 9/9 presenter now faces fresh charges which include kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Jub Jub, who handed himself over to police in July, was released on bail of R10 000 for offences that were allegedly committed between 2006 to 2010.
Initially Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye was only charged with 3 counts of rape, 2 counts of attempted murder, and assault.
He now faces 13 counts for rape, attempted murder, indecent assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and kidnapping.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed the four women who came forward as complainants against Jub Jub are, Amanda du Pont, Kelly Khumalo, Masechaba Khumalo, and a woman who is related to the rapper.
Both Amanda and Kelly have been in relationships with Jub Jub, with Kelly sharing a son with the rapper.
Mjonondwane said the NPA has a strong case against Jub Jub and are ready to proceed with a trial.
“We have disclosed the contents of the docket and we are ready to set a trial date. We have placed the matter on the roll because the docket passed all the prospects of a successful prosecution.”

The rapper’s lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi who said the charges brought forward by the 4 women were fabricated, asked for the case to be postponed until 08 November, to give them time to go through the docket.
“We are ready to proceed, we need to consult to take proper instructions. We don’t want to postpone and then one postponement will lead to another.
Therefore we will request for a lengthy postponement to 08 November, which we believe that by that time we come back, all avenues would have been exhausted and will keep in touch with the state.
I’m assuring the court, when we return we will proceed.”
