Jub Jub’s lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi calls the charges brought against the rapper by four complainants, a fabricated attempt to ruin the career he’s worked so hard to build.
Speaking outside the Uyajola 9/9 presenter’s brief court appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 27 July, Baloyi said Jub Jub pleaded not guilty to all charges against him because none of the accusation against him are true.
“The background is the famous Mac G show, when my client did an interview on 01 December 2021, when he spoke about his past relationship and used the ‘smash’ word.
This is where now, there was a reaction, and in fact today, we are here because somebody decided to fabricate rape charges against my client.
Why would he plead guilty? If you feel you were raped, why did you wait for someone to trigger you, recruit you and influence you to come forward after all these years?
It doesn’t make sense. The number of complainants grew because someone recruited them, to open rape charges and get him arrested.”

The names of the complainants have not been released, but Baloyi’s reference to the Mac G interview, suggested that one of the four women accusing Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye of rape, assault and attempted murder, is his ex-girlfriend, Amanda du Pont.
On 03 December 2021, Amanda du Pont responded to Jub Jub’s comments on Mac G’s podcast when he bragged about “smashing” the actress, whom he was in a relationship with for 2-years.
Amanda said that Jub Jub didn’t “smash her”, instead he raped her for two years and she was terrified to leave because the hip hop artist allegedly threatened to kill her.
While Amanda said she finally found the courage to leave him, Jub Jub told Mac G, that Amanda left their relationship abruptly because she found out that he was cheating on her, with the mother of his son, Kelly Khumalo.
Baloyi said that Jub Jub was granted bail because he’s not a flight risk and has been cooperating with police for the past year now.
Jub Jub was released on bail of R10 000 and will be back in court on 24 August.
