R22 billion awarded to US woman after ex-boyfriend put intimate photos in public Dropbox.
According to court filings, the woman’s ex-boyfriend allegedly sent letters to her family, friends, and coworkers as well as posted “visually intimate material” of her online.
NBCNews reports the victim of so-called “revenge porn” in Texas was given $1.2 billion (roughly R22 billion).
Marques Jamal Jackson, the woman’s ex, is accused of posting the pictures on several social media platforms, in a Dropbox folder that is open to the public.
After their relationship ended, her ex-boyfriend allegedly posted what court documents refer to as “visually intimate material” of her online and in emails to her family, friends, and coworkers.

The woman’s lawyers also revealed that Jamal Jackson also told her she would “spend the rest of your life trying and failing to wipe yourself off the internet,”.
A jury in Harris County District Court unanimously decided to award the woman the money on August 9 after 30 minutes of discussion.
According to court documents, Jackson will have to compensate the victim for her past and future mental anguish with $1 billion in punitive damages and $200 million in actual damages.
