In a remarkable feat of determination, unity, and purpose, Gugulethu Mfuphi, along with a group of exceptional women, has successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro on Women’s Day.
This momentous achievement not only celebrates the strength and resilience of these trailblazing women but also marks a perfectly timed tribute to the noble cause they set out to support. Gugu’s ascent was driven by the goal of raising funds for the Caring4Girls programme, which battles period poverty in South Africa. As she stands atop Kilimanjaro along with the group who joined her, these empowered women epitomize the heights one can reach when united by a common purpose.
The team included Gugulethu Mfuphi, Senzi Nhleko, Keitumetse Moncho, Magda Coetzee, Ntombozuko Willie, Hayley Barrett, Hannelie Jordaan, Fanele Mkhize, and Elsa Noordally reached Kibo Hut on Tuesday 8 August.
Kibo Hut is a campsite often used by hikers the day before their final ascent. This pivotal step marked their readiness to conquer the summit and was a testament to their unwavering commitment to the cause they champion.
