Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Saudi Pro League side, Al-Nassr, has been banned from registering new players by FIFA.
This comes after the club’s saga involving Nigerian footballer Ahmed Musa. The Mirror UK reports that Al Nassr failed to pay Leicester City additional payments relating to a deal for Musa. The 31-year-old was sold to Al-Nassr for a fee believed to be in the region of R280 million in 2018. Musa won the league with Al-Nassr but was released in 2020.
Goal.com reports that FIFA has ruled that the Saudi side failed to pay Leicester around R7.8 million in additional performance-related payments. This came after the club was warned in 2021 about the possibility of a registration ban should they not pay up.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo reached an agreement to join Al Nassr in December 2022, effective January 1, 2023, until 2025. The contract made Ronaldo the highest-earning player in the history of football, with his wages amounting to R4 billion per year. In addition, the deal included a R2 Billion signing fee.
Ronaldo renting out his Madrid mansion
In May this year, it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo was renting out his Madrid mansion for R200k per month. The 38-year-old stayed in the house during his time at Real Madrid (2009–2018). He left Madrid to go play in Italy for Juventus for a reported R1.9 billion fee. The luxury home consists of seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, two swimming pools, a soccer pitch, and a modern training facility.
