
City of Cold: Gauteng experienced the coldest day in 12 years.
The first snowfall in more than ten years shocked Johannesburg residents on Monday, as some children experienced snow for the first time.
Johannesburg last saw snow in August 2012, but other parts of South Africa frequently get snow throughout the southern hemisphere winter months of June to August.
Phemelo Motene spoke Director at the Global Institute at Wits University, Professor Francois Engelbrecht about how the snow that hit Gauteng and possibly the coldest day in 12 years.

Phemelo Motene also spoke to Project Manager at The Life Changing Projects NPO, Tebogo Mpufane about the cold weather and how dangerous it is for the homeless.
Mpufane says they have had an influx of homeless people looking for shelter.
