The Braamfontein shooting incident forced DJ Sbu to relive the night he stared death in the face, during his own road rage incident.
In a video on his YouTube channel, the businessman and podcaster spoke out about how he almost lost his life when he had a gun pointed in his face.
DJ Sbu also used his video to remind people to manage their anger and attitude because getting into an altercation, whether physical or verbal can, in this day and age be the last thing you do.
The incident referenced by the MoFaya businessowner relates to the off-duty JMPD officer who was gunned down outside a Braamfontein nightclub over the weekend, allegedly by an off-duty SAPS officer.
This after the men were involved in an altercation during which the JMPD officer had brandished his firearm and had confronted the driver of a white vehicle.
The driver in turn fired multiple shots at the JMPD officer who died on the scene.
Reflecting on how easy it is to end a live with a gun, DJ Sbu shared his own road rage incident which ended with him having a gun pointed straight in his face.
“I remember in my 20s, I was with my friends and we were driving in Fourways, on William Nicol, and there was this Range Rover, and a white man was driving.
He was veering onto our lanes, trying to intimidate us, and we followed him, so we were chasing him and screaming at him, thinking we were going to scare him.
We followed him to his neighbourhood, and he got into his security gate, got out of his car and pointed a gun at us.
I’ve never been so scared in my life. He pointed it straight at me, and I was in the driver’s seat. He was fearing for his life and he could’ve fired shots and I could have lost my life then and there.
When he pulled out the gun, we all started apologising, I’ll never forget that day. He probably thought we were trying to hijack him, so he could have shot.”

The 46-year old urged people to think before they get into altercations, advising people to protect their peace and just walk away.
