English Premier League outfit Manchester United has reportedly offered club captain Harry Maguire, 30, R200 million to leave the club.
Maguire has endured a difficult season following the appointment of Erik ten Hag as head coach. He has fallen to fourth choice center back and could fall further down the pecking order if United signs South Korean target Kim Min-jae.
Maguire’s situation has left England’s national team coach Gareth Southgate concerned as he is one of his key players.
The 30-year-old has two years left on his contract and earns about R200 million a year. As a resolution, United has reportedly offered him R200 million to leave the team. Premier League side West Ham is one of the clubs interested in securing Maguire’s signature.
Eric ten Hag told the Times that his captain has a big decision to make.
“No one would be happy with this situation, He is not as well. He trains always on the best levels, so with 100 percent effort. So he handles that situation well and he’s in that manner and in his captaincy he’s important for the squad. Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job. But it’s also a decision he has to make.”
Maguire joined Man United in 2019 for a fee believed to be £80 million, a world record fee for a defender. He was appointed club captain within months.
