Dr Nandipha Magudumana will be remanded in custody until 16 May to allow for further investigations.
The doctor who is being represented by former Legal Aid Head, Machini Motloung and Advocate Frans Dlamini has exercised her right to put her bail application in abeyance.
This after the legal team who represented Thabo Bester’s alleged accomplice at her first court appearance withdrew from representing Magudumana.
Magudumana has decided to put her bail application in temporary suspension, because she doesn’t wish to exercise her rights at this time.
According to Adv. Dlamini the reason for this was due to unforeseen circumstances.
A plea in abeyance can sometimes earn an accused a less harsh charge, if the prosecuting attorney agrees that certain conditions have been met.
Magudumana along with G4S prison warden, Senohe Matsoara, CCTV technician Tebogo Lipholo, Tieho Makhotsa, Nastassja Jansen and another 51-year old G4S employee were all remanded in custody until their appearance on Thursday, 11 May.
While acting Chief Magistrate at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court, LP Mbasa barred media from filming and recording the live proceedings in the bail application of Dr Nandipha Magudumana and 5 other co-accused, the court allowed part of the proceedings to be livestreamed.
The doctor is facing charges of murder, aiding the escape of a prisoner, defeating the ends of justice, violation of bodies and fraud.
Dr Nandipha Magudumana will make her next court appearance on 16 May, with her father, Zolile Sekeleni and Thabo Bester, the convicted rapist and murderer who she is accused of aiding and abetting.
This is a developing story.
