Maimane’s BOSA launches petition against government’s objection to uninterrupted electricity for hospitals.
Mmusi Maimane, the leader of Build One SA (Bosa), has filed a petition asking the government to halt its attempt to have a court ruling regarding load shedding reviewed.
19 applicants, including Bosa, have petitioned the court to hear the case. This happened on the On 23 January 2023, when BOSA, NUMSA and civil society organisations served papers to ensure continuous power supply to Hospitals, Educational and Security Institutions.
The Pretoria high court decided earlier this month that power outages shouldn’t affect schools, hospitals, or police stations.
They maintained that the government was required to provide power to important institutions because it was a constitutional entitlement.

They are now calling on Minister Pravin Gordhan to suspend his application to review the judgment because he is using our money.
The petition read:
“In a damning judgement, THE COURT FOUND IN OUR FAVOUR, and ordered the Minister of Public Enterprises to deliver power in 60 Days. Government has appealed.
“We are calling on citizens to protest this “Human Catastrophe” – as the Judge called it!”
Our petition is still up & our fight to exempt hospitals, schools & police stations from load-shedding continues!

Minister Pravin Gordhan. You are wrong!

You are wrong to oppose uninterrupted electricity for hospitals while supporting generators for ministers.
You are standing against the most vulnerable when you oppose the court ruling that there must be power at schools and hospitals. pic.twitter.com/UKCcrXtShj
