This morning author and activist Zoleka Mandela gave her fans an update on her latest fight with cancer (her cancer returned in 2022).
Zoleka Mandela revealed that the results of her latest scan are out and “it’s bad.”
In addition to this, the activist thanked everyone who has sent her messages of support.
Speaking to Phemelo Motene on Point of View earlier this week, she shared that she is in her ‘planning stages.’
“I’m blessed enough to be in a position where I’m in my planning stages. I’m having conversations with my loved ones and my lawyer and therapist. That’s where I am right now,” she told Phemelo Motene.
“I’m learning to be okay with my eventuality. I’m learning to live despite an expected death. I’m also just continuously evaluating many facets of my life. I think that’s empowering for me. I’m put in a place where I actually have a say, especially with regard to my children.”
Zoleka attributes her ‘fighting spirit’ to a ‘solid social support network.’ She adds that she is passed the “why me?” stage.
“I think I’m passed ‘Why me?’ Two days ago I was crying the whole night because I am in pain constantly. There was a lady who approached me, she saw me through my mask and she’s like: “My brother is going through the exact same thing as you and I want you to know you are the reason I have strength for my brother. I still have hope,” said Mandela.
Her goal with her new YouTube channel is to “debunk a lot of myths about cancer and addiction.”
