Caiphus Semenya, an internationally famous jazz musician, is reportedly demanding payment for the royalties of well-known songs that the rapper sampled for his two albums without his consent.
According to reports by Sunday World, Semenya demands 50% of the royalties from two songs that were sampled on his two top-selling albums without getting the 83-year-old musician’s written permission.
Semenya has reportedly issued Sony Music, the record label for AKA, a warning: pay up or face the consequences.

The songs in question are reportedly ‘Caiphus Song’ on the Touch My Blood and Diary on Mass Country album respectively.
According to the publication’s source, AKA had previously sampled Caiphus Semenya’s music without getting his permission.
“The old man felt that AKA disrespected him and his work because he had previously stolen his intellectual property but later apologised and promised to fix his mess. Sadly he did not,”
The reports have caused divisions and sparked a conversation on social media.

Now he comes out of nowhere to demand royalties
These Legends can’t handle the hunger 😭😭😩
Songs with samples without clearance from the other artist should never be released.

Ntate Caiphus has every right to demand his dues from the songs.
It’s not personal or an affront to the late AKA or his legacy.
Stop being disrespectful to Mr Semenya.
#DAcongress2023 is rigged like the #ANCConference was… How can we expect undemocratic parties to preside over our undemocratic republic? We can’t. Democracy flopped & Caiphus Semenya is a b*tch for suing AKA. When I see him, I’ll tell him that he must get his masters from Gallo!
