
Former Tshwane Mayor Murunwa Makwarela hands himself to the police.
Murunwa Makwarela, a former mayor of Tshwane, willingly turned himself in to police on Monday morning.
The troubled mayor is accused of using a falsified insolvency rehabilitation certificate to continue serving as mayor of the City of Tshwane.
After a tumultuous campaign in which he insisted on his innocence despite the accusations, Makwarela announced his resignation last month.

He has reportedly being handled at the Brooklyn Police Station in the City of Tshwane.
Makwarela was verified to be scheduled to appear in the Specialized Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria on Monday by Lumka Mahanjane of the National Prosecuting Authority.
