Simphiwe Dana, a South African singer-songwriter, plays the lead role in Mamlambo, a Netflix short film.
Gcobisa Yako, an Eastern Cape filmmaker from Gqeberha, produced the short film Mamlambo.
The short film is one of a collection of six shorts created by six distinct African filmmakers, reimagined and retold by a new generation of six storytellers.
The shorts, which vary in length from 13 to 27 minutes, are compiled under the umbrella title “African Folktales Reimagined” and tell a variety of stories using a variety of genres.
