Thabo Bester is believed to be in the company of celebrity aesthetics doctor, Dr Nandipha Magudumana, who is also on the run.
Dr Nandipha’s family have spoken out, saying they have no idea where she is, having failed to open her practice earlier this week, despite advertising her return on social media.
It has also been reported that Dr Nandipha has abandoned her mansion in Hyde Park.
The doctor’s medical license has also expired according to the Health Professions Council of South Africa, and she is legally not allowed to practice medicine.
Bester faked his own death and escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Center in May 2022, where he was serving a life sentence for rape and murder.
His escape was aided by officials at the facility as well as G4S security guards, who have according to the Department of Correctional Services been suspended and dismissed.
In a media briefing on Thursday, 30 March, the department’s National Commissioner, Makhgoti Thobakgale said the contract with G4S will not be renewed.
The Department of Correctional Services may find itself facing a legal battle should Bester’s victims decide to sue for failing their legal duty to keep him behind bars for the duration of his sentence.
