Terry Pheto’s Lottery-funded mansion has finally been sold for R3.9 million. This after unsuccessful auctions which started at the beginning of March.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) failed to secure any bids for the 3-bedroom Bryanston home on Thursday, 02 March when the home went up for auction.
It was discovered that Pheto’s home was paid for from siphoned money from the National Lottery Commission (NLC).
According to the SIU, a bid for R3.9 million was accepted, and the transfer process to the new owner is already underway.
“We received 8 offers ranging from R1.7 million to R3.9 million. Of these offers, 8 ranging from R3.5 million to R3.9 million were forwarded to the curator at the SIU for consideration. The highest offer of R3.9 million was accepted and the process of transferring the house to the new owner is now underway.”
Late last year, the actress said she was dismayed after the SIU obtained a high court preservation order to seize her home amongst nine other luxury properties.
Assets with a joint value of R24 million was seized, which included properties in Pretoria, Centurion, Hartbeespoort and Johannesburg, as well as a BMW 4 series, and two Ocean Basket restaurants.
Late last year the SIU shared that Pheto’s home may be auctioned once investigations were finalised to retrieve the money from the NLC.
Among those implicated in the NLC fraud case are Terry Pheto, lawyer Lesley Ramulifho, Collin Mukondeleli Tshisimba, Fulufhelo Promise Kharivhe, AO Residence Trust represented by Mashudu Shandukani, Rasemate Family Trust represented by Rebotile Malomane, Mojakgomo Family Trust represented Thabang Charlotte Mampane (ex-lotteries boss), Unbrand properties represented by Sthembiso Jim Skosana, and Just Cuban Trust represented by Botshelo Cornelius Moloto.
