Dropping his avocado toast on his beige tracksuit pants led Kaya Drive host Sizwe Dhlomo to the discussion on messy eaters.
The afternoon host has previously shared that he’s a fast eater, which sometimes means the odd stain here and there.
But this means spending the whole day with people judging how “sloppy” he is, although Sizwe does try to eat without spilling food.
“Thankfully it was just the avocado and nothing saucy because can you imagine walking around the whole day with a stain. Now, people are going to think I didn’t even make an effort to look put together.”
Sizwe also shared that one of his closest friends, Anele Mdoda, is a messy eater, and that she never eats anything without ensuring she covers her clothes.
“Anele is bad, like as soon as she starts eating, we just know, it’s only a matter of time before something is falling on her clothes. It’s not just her clothes though, she even gets her hands messed, so if she’s wearing white, she never eats without like a bib or a napkin or something covering her.”

Messy eater’s guide to looking put together
The ladies on the Kaya Drive team shared some sound advice to help Siz maintain his street credit and look put together all day.
Mbali Dhlamini shared that as a mom, she never leaves home without a spare set of fresh clothes which is always on hand in her car.
If she spills something on her clothes, then she quickly changes, because like Anele, Mbali is also quite the messy eater.
It is for this reason she tries to eat everything with a fork and knife, which is her second tip to not letting her messy eating get the better of her.
Apart from that here are some tips to overcome your messy eating.
- Don’t wear white if you are going for a dinner or event where there’s going to be food.
- Finger foods can be especially messy so stick to things that are easy to eat and not covered in too much sauce.
- Slow down your eating and take the time to eat instead of shovelling the food down.
- Keep wet wipes on hand to wipe up spills and stains.
- Don’t eat standing up.
