One of Thabo Bester’s victims has shared with Kaya News how she escaped the convicted rapist and murderer trying to lure her to Cape Town under false pretences.
The “Facebook rapist” who faked his own death and escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre is now on the run.
Bester had reportedly died in his prison cell after a fire broke out in May last year. However, police have since confirmed that the body that was discovered in the Bloemfontein facility, was not that of Thabo Bester.
Speaking to Kaya News, Mbalenhle Mlotshwa, who was fortunate enough to escape Bester’s deception, shared how Bester went about getting his next victims.
Mlotshwa said that Bester posed as a talent scout for a casting agency called Aurum.
Thabo Bester messaged Mlotshwa on Instagram using an alias, “Katlego” telling her there’s an opportunity for her to appear in a Netflix series.
Under the pretence that he was scouting for “fresh faces”, Bester told Mlotshwa to meet him in Cape Town alone.
Bester said he needed Mlotshwa to prove that she was indeed independent and wouldn’t have issues travelling anywhere in the world at the drop of a hat.

Thankfully, Mlotshwa saw the red flags from the start, which helped her turn down the offer from Bester.
According to Mlotshwa, after she turned him down, Bester became increasingly persistent and tried to beg her to work with him.
Thabo Bester has been linked to Dr Nandipha Magudumana, who is also allegedly on the run after abandoning her luxury home in Hyde Park last week.
Dr Nandipha is set to return to her aesthetic practice as advertised on her social media, on Wednesday, 29 March.
