Thandeka Innocentia Nkosi, the woman who allegedly defrauded Eskom of R14 million has been released on bail.
Nkosi, who worked as a senior buyer at the power utility in 2013, appeared at the Hendrina Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 22 March.
The 42-year old was released on bail of R100 000, with two additional accused also being released on bail.
A fourth suspect is still on the loose and a warrant of arrest has been issued against him.
The two other accused were released on bail of R100 000 and R30 000. One of the accused is a 71-year old.
According to the Hawks in Mpumalanga, Nkosi is charged with theft, fraud and money laundering.
The Hawks discovered that between March to April 2013, Nkosi who was employed at Ekom’s Arnot Power Station, allegedly defrauded the state-owned entity of R14.7 million.
Officers believe she colluded with accomplices.
An intensive investigation was conducted by Eskom’s forensic investigators concerning money which was stolen. After the fraud was uncovered, a case was opened and referred to the Middelburg Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further exploration.
