As a petition calling for “Justice for Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes gains momentum online, Police Minister, Bheki Cele has given an update on the slain rapper’s murder investigation.
Addressing media in Westbury where special forces have been deployed, Cele said investigators are “cracking the case.”
The Minister didn’t appease the crowd, nor fans of the Megacy with his vague response however, and Cele’s inability to clamp down on AKA and Tebello Motsoane’s killers have been called unacceptable.
According to Cele, he received the latest update on AKA’s murder on Tuesday evening, when he was told that a number of cellphones were collected and the data was being analyzed.
But, this information was shared with media days after the rapped was gunned down on Florida Road, Durban on 10 February.
“Maybe things that I cannot say, but one of them I can, we’ve collected a lot of cellphones. So, we are working, downloading, kind of thing to patch and knit things together. That’s the last I received yesterday, about 22h00 on this matter.
The progress is there. We acknowledge it’s not with the speed that the community and nation would have loved to see us react, but mark this space, we are cracking the case.”

Meanwhile, Youngsta Kaapstad has hit back at Cele’s statement heavily, saying the Minister is taking AKA’s loved ones for a p**s!”
If that shit happened in Cape Town we would’ve found the Naaiers in a hour!
