The South African Revenue Service (SARS) says Ramaphosa is tax compliant.
This comes after Ramaphosa gave SARS permission to make public his tax situation. Following reports of the discovery of foreign money at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm last year, the public became interested in the president’s tax compliance status.
The $580,000 in funds was discovered in the sales profits of a deal involving Sudanese businessman Hazim Mustafa that happened in December 2019.

In a statement, SARS said it had received consent from the president to share his tax matters, as by law SARS is not allowed to do so.
“Through its staff and advisers, the taxpayers have always co-operated fully with Sars during the audits and there has been no interference or resistance from the taxpayers, their staff, or any other party.
“To date, audits have been concluded without any adverse tax findings. Sars wishes to confirm that the taxpayers are compliant with their tax obligations to date,” read the statement.
