Eskom has relinquished Andre de Ruyter of his duties as CEO of the power utility effective immediately.
Following a special Board meeting on 22 February 2023, the Eskom Board and Group Chief Executive (GCE) Andre de Ruyter reached a mutual agreement to curtail his notice period to 28 February 2023.
Andre de Ruyter will not be required to serve the balance of his notice period but will be released from his position with immediate effect.
According to a statement shared by Eskom, “acting GCE arrangements are being finalised with the shareholder Minister and will be communicated shortly.”
This comes after de Ruyter’s interview with Annika Larsen where he expressed his lack of belief in the government to end corruption within the power utility.
De Ruyter resigned in December 2022 but agreed to serve his notice till March 2023.
