Popular radio presenter Mark Pilgrim has been discharged from hospital after 64 days.
Pilgrim who is battling Stage 4 lung cancer has been in hospital since October when he underwent a procedure to drain liters of fluid from his lungs.
Thereafter, the Hot 1027 FM personality underwent lung surgery to sort out a collapsed lung and was in the ICU for a few weeks.
Mark Pilgrim’s time in hospital has been a struggle, with him being unable to see his daughters while in the ICU and spending Christmas in his hospital room.
Despite his lengthy stay in hospital, Pilgrim has maintained a positive mindset and maintained his smile.
After 33-years in remission, Mark Pilgrim’s cancer had spread and he started chemotherapy in March this year.
Sharing his gratitude at finally going home, Pilgrim said he was looking forward to recovering in the comfort of his home.
The radio personality endured 7 procedures in the space of 64 days and lost 15kgs.
“After 64 days, 7 procedures and losing almost 15kg, today… I go home!
Still have a tube coming out my side and will have a home nurse looking after me as I slowly build my strength, but nothing beats the healing power of being home with loved ones, doggies, the fresh air and garden.”
