NICD reports that there have been 13 more Measles outbreak cases.
13 further cases of the measles outbreak in Limpopo and Mpumalanga have been reported in the past week, according to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD).
As of today, 71 cases have been confirmed in the lab between September 1 and November 22.
According to IOL, in Limpopo, there are 60 cases impacting the four districts of Capricorn, Greater Sekhukhune, Mopani, and Waterberg, which have been designated as outbreak regions by the NICD spokesperson Sinenhlanhla Jimoh.

An outbreak area was also announced for the Mpumalanga district of Ehlanzeni, which borders the Limpopo districts of Mopani and Greater Sekhukhune.
“The ages of measles cases in the Limpopo province ranged from four months to 42 years, while in the Ehlanzeni district in Mpumalanga province, measles cases ranged from 18 months to 10 years.”
“The most affected age group is the school-going children, 1–4 years age group (32%) in Mpumalanga province and 5–9 years old (34%) in Limpopo.”
“Three laboratory-confirmed measles cases were hospitalised and no measles deaths have been reported in Limpopo province and Mpumalanga province,” Jimoh said.
