Nothing stops South Africans from taking advantage of Black Friday deals, not even the South African Reserve Bank hiking up the repo rate by 75 basis points to 7%.
Scores of shoppers braved midnight queues to enter stores and grab big ticket deals such as TVs, fridges, laptops and more.
According to the Black Friday/Cyber Monday tracking dashboard on PayFast, one South African shopper has already spent R400 000 on Black Friday deals.
As per a report on MyBroadBand, the unidentified shopper spent a whopping R397,217 on two transactions on one of the biggest shopping days in the year.
The frenzy around Black Friday and Cyber Monday has retailers across the world offering top items at almost 50% off.
Top 5 big spenders from South Africa this year have each spent over R100 000, with the single largest amount spent being R284, 625 by the above mentioned shopper.
With more than 16-hours left to go, the odds that the Top 5 big spenders will change are high.
Many retailers are promising customers delivery of big items within 5-7 business days should stock run out.
Customers are also urged to be patient and wait for Cyber Monday deals which follow Black Friday.
