Speaking to 959 Breakfast about relocating to London in the early 2000s, she says her mother got a job offer that side.
“She saw it as an opportunity to provide a better future for her children. It was myself, my sister, and my cousin because her mother passed away.”
Makgotso shares that from a young age she’s always wanted to be a performer. “I won a pageant in primary school, she adds.
The actress grew up having some form of resentment toward her father. However, she is now developing a relationship with him.
“I started that journey and I realised that there is a generational gap so to speak. Because in my mind, it’s quiet simple what he could have done. However, when you talk to him you sort of get to understand the social context at the time.
“To be okay with the fact that we are going to disagree and this is my dad and accept him for the man that he is. I think it’s important to heal,” she said.
