Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have ‘gracefully, humbly and sexually’ bowed out of the 2023 Grammy Awards consideration.
The duo who together form Silk Sonic say they’ve put too much into their collaborative album and will not be submitting their names in for a Grammy nod.
In a statement, Bruno Mars said, “We put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually bow out of submitting our album this year. We hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party. Thank you for letting Silk Sonic thrive.”
The group’s shocking withdrawal from the Grammys comes after their hit single, Leave The Door Open won four awards last year.
Since then, other hits from the album, including Smoking Out The Window, Skate, Love’s Train and Fly As Me have also topped charts around the world.
However, their decision was based on wanting to avoid being greedy, as they felt it would be crazy to ask for anything more on top of their other wins.
Leave The Door Open won Record of the Year, and the album is now a favourite to win Album of the Year 2023.
Silk Sonic feel that they already won with the world’s response to Leave The Door Open, which was to the pair all they could have asked for.
